Human development occurs along standardized markers, however every child is different. In the necessary context of family therapy, I work with all ages of children, including adolescents, with problems ranging from ADHD, bullying, and school-related issues to problems with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Even when I work one-on-one with children, I meet with parents regularly to collaborate and discuss treatment. Often this work entails helping children and parents to connect on a deeper level through communication skills and experiential exercises.
Among the modalities I use with children are Play Therapy, Sand Tray, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Structural Family Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Poetry and Bibliotherapy, and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy. I provide collaborative care and, with permission, will discuss the children’s needs with physicians, school counselors, and others as needed for the best outcome.
Please contact me if you would like to discuss your child’s specific needs for therapy.
